Original air date: May 22, 1977 Director: Sam Wanamaker Writer: Robert Malcolm Young Rating: 10/10 With just three episodes (and the first two not being that great), you’d be forgiven for

thinking _Columbo _was losing steam in its sixth season. Hell, season 5 was a disappointment compared to what came before, even. This episode is notable for being the onscreen debut of

future A-lister Jamie Lee Curtis. But it’s also notable for its excellent dialogue and fantastic performances. Columbo deals with essentially a Mensa-club, and his best villains are always

the ones that have supreme confidence. In this case, that’s Theodore Bikel. The scene in the park in which Theodore Bikel is trying to dispose of the gun when he runs into Columbo is one of

my favorites in the entire series. This is a fantastic episode, any way you look at it. It’s one of the highlights of the series.
