When registered nurse and U.S. Navy Veteran Alan Allman joined the Salisbury VA Health Care System 20 years ago, he never thought he would be named top employee. “I absolutely wasn’t
expecting this,” said Allman on being selected as the 2022 SALISBURY VA HEALTH CARE SYSTEM EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR. “It’s great to be acknowledged for your hard work. There are so many others
that are deserving as well. We all work as a team to take care of the Veterans to the best of our abilities.” Allman joined the U.S. Navy in 1985 and served in an F-14 squadron. After the
Navy, he returned to work at a cotton mill in Landis, North Carolina, where he was employed before the military. He stayed there for several years and eventually realized he was not reaching
his full potential. He became interested in health care due to close family member’s major health concerns. Allman proceeded to enroll at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College (RCCC) and became
a licensed practical nurse (LPN). While working at a long-term care facility, he eventually went back to RCCC to get his registered nurse (RN) degree. Allman soon brought his talents to the
VA, working in long-term care and eventually primary care nursing, now a Patient Align Care Team (PACT) nurse in the Green Clinic at the W.G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center. Allman says his
faith and family keeps him grounded and are his life’s biggest inspirations. Outside of work, Allman enjoys being outdoors tending to his garden and traveling with his wife. “I have a
strong Christian faith and I know for a fact I wouldn’t be where I’m at without my Lord and savior,” added Allman. Congratulations, Alan! 2022 SALISBURY VA HEALTH CARE SYSTEM SUPERVISOR OF
THE YEAR: JANICE LOVINGOOD For the 2022 Salisbury VA Health Care System Supervisor of the Year Janice Lovingood, the path to this accomplishment and recognition was not without a few twists

military service. With such deep roots, she identifies with a sense of duty and purpose for helping others. “It is an honor to serve our nation's Veterans and to care for them in their
time of need after they served for us in our nation's time of need,” said Lovingood. Lovingood currently serves as a group practice manager at the Salisbury VA after previously
volunteering as a lead administrative officer in Health Administration Service (HAS) and covering the vacant role of data and quality section chief. Lovingood joined the VA in 2007 as a
contractor, subsequently enlisted in the Army Reserve, and returned to the VA eventually becoming an optometry technician in 2011. She worked her way up through different positions including
administrative officer, program application specialist, and executive assistant before taking on her current leadership role. “I have enjoyed every position I have had at the VA,” added
Lovingood. “I enjoy working with Veterans. I love collaborating with people across the VA. I know once I started, this is where I was going to stay.” A native of Rowan County, Lovingood
