United States Air Force planes were seen flying over Huddersfield at the start of this week - and the reason why has now been revealed. On the evening of Sunday, May 18, a number of USAF

planes were seen flying over Huddersfield at around 8pm, with further planes sighted early on Monday morning. The planes were CV-22B Ospreys, a type which was not in use by the Royal Air

Force. The Ministry of Defence confirmed these planes belonged to the USAF. Now, the USAF has confirmed the reason behind the flights on Sunday evening and Monday morning. The Ospreys belong

to the 352nd Special Operations Wing, who are conducting a readiness exercise throughout the UK. The 352nd often rains throughout the UK, with the aim of increasing their ability to respond

to any crises and contingencies throughout Europe. In a statement, they said: "The 352d Special Operations Wing routinely trains throughout the United Kingdom to increase our

proficiency to respond to crises and contingencies throughout the US European Command Theater. For more information on this exercise, please contact the 352d Special Operations Wing at +44
