the onboarding process by hosting an Onboarding Surge Event designed to allow incoming employees who have received a tentative job offer access to all forms, paperwork, fingerprints,

background checks and all other requirements for employment at one place and one time. The event is November 17, 2022, from 1 to 7 p.m. on the VA Medical Center campus located at 3600 30th

Street in Des Moines and will assist new employees from all different career fields, from medical to administrative personnel, to streamline the hiring process. Nationally, a top priority

for VA is hiring employees to care for our nations Veterans and the agency projects it needs to hire 52,000 employees per year over the next five years to keep pace with the increased need

for care and to maintain a healthy, vibrant workforce. The Onboarding Surge Event model is a standardized, team-centric approach focused on fast tracking all selectees’ onboarding experience

by coordinating all required pre-employment actions into a single-day event. “We need people to come on board as efficiently as possible and this event will help us do that,” said Jenna

Reding, supervisory human resources specialist at the Central Iowa VA. “It is another way VA is working to support our Veterans and get them the services they need and have earned.” The

event is intended to foster a strong, collaborative relationship between Human Resources, hiring managers and employees, as well as reducing the number of selectees waiting to finish

pre-employment onboarding requirements. This event is open to those who have received a tentative job offer with VA Central Iowa Health Care System. Onboarding Surge Events are being held at
