Shentrela Diggins, Fisher House Manager, Bay Pines VA Fisher House; Paul Russo, CEO/Director, Bay Pines VA Healthcare System (standing far left); and Sean Turner, Associate Director, Bay
Pines VA, (standing far right) accept a donation for the Bay Pines VA Fisher House from organizers of the Venetian Veterans Charity Golf Tournament on Dec. 9, 2022. The generous contribution
of more than $13,000 will be used to support the needs of Veterans' loved ones during their stay at the Bay Pines VA Fisher House. By Medina Ayala-Lo, Public Affairs Officer December
14, 2022 The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System recognizes that a vital part of serving Veterans well is ensuring their loved ones are cared for too. On Dec. 9, the organizers of the Venetian
Veterans Charity Golf Tournament contributed to our mission of serving those who served by generously donating more than $13,000 to the Bay Pines VA Fisher House. “We’ve always been
sensitive to what Veterans and their families go through,” said Ken Deen, Chairman, Veterans Charity Committee, Venetian Golf and River Club. “We’ve been donating to the Fisher House for
years but this year, we chose to donate to the one in Bay Pines because it takes care of the Veterans in our community. It feels good to know that we’re contributing to a fantastic
organization and that the money is going directly where the need is.” The Fisher House Foundation was established in 1990 by Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher to provide temporary accommodations
at no cost to family members of hospitalized Veterans and active-duty military. Bay Pines VA’s main campus has boasted a Fisher House since 2002 and we look forward to opening the doors of a
second Fisher House in the Spring of 2023. “Veterans have fought for our country, and it is our duty to make sure they and their families are taken care of. We know we cannot do that
without the support of our community,” said Shentrela Diggins, Fisher House Manager, Bay Pines VA Fisher House. “Every cent we receive goes directly toward supporting the needs of our
guests. We are grateful for this contribution and the tremendous impact it will have on hundreds of families in the coming year.” Those who are interested in contributing to the Bay Pines VA
