In a spirit of raising awareness for homeless Veterans, the Atlanta VA Health Care System hosted its annual VA2K Walk and Roll May 21. The facility’s event coordinators - Kelly Fripps,
Health Promotion Disease Prevention Program Manager; Dr. Alton Greene, Chief of Occupational Health; and Angela Grant, an Occupational Health nurse -noted that the goal was to inspire VA
employees and community members to incorporate healthy activity into their workday while also featuring various resources for Veterans, including Whole Health and information on wellness and
homelessness prevention. "On behalf of the Atlanta VA leadership team, I want to express our sincere gratitude to all the community partners, especially the Stephenson High School
band, for making this event such a success,” Fripps said. “Their participation in the VA2K Walk & Roll not only exemplifies the importance of community engagement but also serves as a
reminder of the ongoing need to support our Veterans.” Fripps also acknowledged the voluntary donations of non-perishable foods and clothing items from community partners. Among the
participants in the short two-kilometer walk was Veteran Owen Powell, who expressed his pride in supporting his fellow Veterans. “I make it a point to walk daily, but this is a great
opportunity to support our homeless Veterans” Powell said. To learn more about opportunities to donate or volunteer at the Atlanta VA Health Care System, contact our Center for Development
