Dale MillerThe West Australian Former Fremantle utility player Luke Webster will join West Coast as a development coach in a return to his WA football roots. The 33-year-old is being added

to the Eagles’ coaching panel for 2016. The appointment was finalised after his five-year stint at Carlton came to an end late last month. Webster had spent the past two years as the senior

coach at Carlton’s VFL affiliate, the Northern Blues. He was a casualty of the shake-up under incoming coach Brendon Bolton, joining former Melbourne captain Brad Green and Hawthorn

premiership player Michael Osborne as those to depart the club. Webster’s AFL playing career was cut short by a horror run of knee injuries, which restricted him to only 33 games for the

Dockers from 2003 to 2008. A premiership player at East Perth, Webster is expected to again be heavily involved with the Royals under their alignment with West Coast. The Eagles are yet to

decide the future of midfielder Kane Lucas, although the midfielder is likely to earn another year on the club’s rookie list. Lucas, 24, failed to crack a senior game in his first season at

West Coast after being de-listed by Carlton, but was a consistent contributor at East Perth where he averaged 23 disposals. Meanwhile, de-listed Eagles rookie Rowen Powell is expected to

sign with Claremont for next season after making a verbal commitment to play for his original club. Forward Shane Edwards, 27, is almost certain to finish his career at Richmond after

signing a three-year contract extension yesterday. GET THE LATEST NEWS FROM THEWEST.COM.AU IN YOUR INBOX. Sign up for our emails
