Dwp issues warning to anyone looking for a new job

DWP IS ASKING PEOPLE TO OMIT CERTAIN DETAILS FROM THEIR CVS 11:31, 20 May 2025 The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has issued a warning to job seekers, urging them to keep certain

details to themselves when applying for work or sharing their CV online. In a post on X, formerly Twitter, DWP cautioned that "fraudsters look for personal details to steal your

identity". A voiceover on an accompanying video further advises: "Protect yourself from online identity fraud. When sharing your CV online, remember scammers use your personal

details to commit identity fraud." To stay safe, job seekers are advised not to include their full address, date of birth, or National Insurance number on their CVs. The DWP adds that

recruiters do not require these details at the application stage - but fraudsters do. For more information, people are advised to visit Action Fraud. This alert follows an earlier warning

from the DWP, which urged people to "protect themselves" from another method scammers use to access their personal details. On Friday, the DWP warned: "Protect yourself from

online fraud. Keep your sensitive information off social media and out of Direct Messages." The DWP then highlighted the importance of keeping personal details private, urging people

not to share their full name and/or date of birth, National Insurance number, and/or answers to their security questions. Article continues below If a scammer was to get hold of your

details, they may be able to steal your identity and take money from your bank account. Additional advice from Action Fraud suggests ensuring your computer is equipped with the latest

anti-virus software and a firewall, noting that many scams originate from phishing emails.
