Small-cap stocks were on pace to rise this week despite their decline on Friday afternoon, as the Russell 2000 index neared the end of May with a strong monthly rebound. The Russell 2000, a


gauge of small-cap equities in the U.S, was down a modest 0.2% in afternoon trading but remained on pace for a weekly gain of 1.5%, according to FactSet data, at last check. Following three


straight months of declines, the Russell 2000 was on track for a monthly rise of more than 5% after global trade tensions had cooled earlier in May.
