American music and in particular jazz music. Feeling anonymous in Manhattan, Appel took advantage of the street life, the frantic rhythms that were born there to tint his art of a concrete

inspiration whose image remains explosive on his canvases. On the occasion of the exhibition _Karel Appel, L'art est une fête!_, the Jazz department of Paris Conservatory, will present

a very colorful and very festive concert thanks to the rhythms of the big band Jazz of Dizzy Gillespie and compositions by Line Kruse (under his direction) among others.
