A cat has cheated death after being rescued from a Leicester flat fire. Crews from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) had to revive the animal after it was left unconscious from

the blaze. Multiple fire engines were called to the scene in Manitoba Road, St Matthews, at around 6.30pm last Saturday (May 24) after several calls were received about the blaze. LFRS said

the fire was in a ground floor flat, with multiple crews from across the city responding. Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building and used two hose reel jets to

tackle the flames. The crews discovered the cat trapped inside the flat and successfully rescued the animal before reviving it using an animal oxygen therapy mask. READ MORE: Leicestershire

service thanked local residents who were disrupted by the incident and allowed crews to carry out their work safely. LFRS said crews will be returning to the area in the coming weeks to

undertake home safety checks. The visits will aim to reassure residents and provide fire safety advice to homes in the neighbourhood. We are now bringing you the latest updates on WhatsApp
