18). A totally new concept, this latest Channel 4 reality series sees contestants living alone in apartments in the same building but communicating via a social media platform called The

Circle. The players don’t meet in real life, so they can be who they want to be, projecting an online version of themselves to the others. Many chose to just be themselves but others are

older, fitter, frumpier or foxier. “They could become a totally different person. Or simply be themselves.” The aim of the game is to be the most popular person in The Circle. So what do the

19-year-old call centre worker and shot girl from Wakefield. She will be playing herself in The Circle. Her strategy is to play the game just as she plays out her life on social media – with

the “perfect pout and the perfect banter”. She feels she doesn’t need to change her looks or her personality because she’s already the “social media real deal”. WHO IS HOST MAYA JAMA?

girlfriend's photos for the character he has invented called Kate. In The Circle he plans to flirt with the boys and befriend the girls in a bid to be most popular. MEET THE CIRCLE

CONTESTANTS Alex will be playing Kate (Image: C4) DAN Dan, 28, is a former estate agent from London. He will be playing himself in the series. His strategy is to use his skills as a

salesman, combined with “subtle manipulation” to get the others on side. Dan will be playing himself (Image: C4) FREDDIE Freddie is a 20-year-old call centre worker from Essex. He is openly

gay but will be playing himself as straight in The Circle. Freddie will be “playing it straight”- using his own profile photos and being himself, with the exception that he is changing his

sexuality. Freddie will be playing a straight version of himself (Image: C4) GENELLE Genelle is a 31-year-old stay at home mum to her six-month-old, who will be joining her on the show. She

will be playing herself but not revealing all in the series. Gentle won’t be telling the others she has her baby with her and her strategy is to not tell them she’s a mum at all. Genelle

22-year-old bar supervisor from Norfolk. He will be playing himself on the show. His strategy is to “build bromances with the boys and graft all the girls” in order to get everyone on side.
