Unlike Meghan and Harry who fell in love and married in less than two years, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s romance has spanned over the course of almost two decades. The two met for

the first time while they were students in residence at St Salvator’s Hall at the University of St Andrews in Fife in 2001. Their relationship is said to have blossomed the following year,

when the couple moved into a student house. The world watched as they celebrated milestone after milestone, from their graduation to their fairytale wedding in 2011. Despite being the

subject of intense scrutiny, the couple has not been very vocal about their relationship. They famously went through a break-up in 2007, but when asked about the split during their

engagement interview, William simply said they had to “find their own way” and “grow up”, but did not disclose any further information about the reasons behind the decision. However, a

newly-resurfaced 2007 report by the Mail on Sunday, sheds some light on what really happened that Easter. Royal correspondents Laura Collins, Katie Nicholl and Ian Gallagher claimed Prince

William decided to split from his university sweetheart because he felt the “fun” had disappeared from the relationship. Kate was reportedly left “desperately upset”, as she had always

believed they would marry. Moreover, William’s antics just days after their break-up angered the now Duchess of Cambridge. The Prince was immediately spotted carousing in London nightclubs

with different girls. JUST IN: MEGHAN OPENED UP ABOUT LETTER FATHER GAVE HER: 'REALLY SPECIAL' “‘But after his recent behaviour she gave him and ultimatum and told him that over

the time he behaved like that in public he was cheapening her image as well as his own. “‘She told him she wasn’t prepared to be treated like a doormat and that his carefree behaviour was

affecting her image. “'In the past she had always let go of things like that, but this really bothered her.’” The Prince did not take too long to realise he made a mistake, as after

only three months the two were again seen together. They married in 2011, in a fairytale ceremony at Westminster Abbey. They now have three beautiful children: Prince George, Princess

Charlotte and Prince Louis.
