The massive group of moon jellyfish is believed to stretch for some 40m across the waters off the coast of Ceredigion in Mid Wales. Boat skipper Jonathan Evans, from New Quay Dolphin
Spotting Boat Trip, said: "I've been running dolphin trips since 2011 and I haven't seen anything like it during that time." The jellyfish are not usually harmful to
humans as their sting is not powerful enough to penetrate skin. There have already been a number of unusual sightings of jellyfish along the Welsh coast this Summer. In June hundreds of
purple jellyfish were spotted floating in Swansea Marina, while Rhossili Beach in nearby Gower saw five or six large barrel jellyfish washed up on its sands. The Marine Conservation Society
say a rise in sightings of jellyfish indicate a better breeding and living conditions in the UK seas. Dr Peter Richardson, head of ocean recovery, said most types of jellyfish found around
the UK are not harmful to humans, but beachgoers should always exercise caution. He said: "The advice generally is not to panic and report any sightings to the MCS. "You should use
your common sense and keep your distance. "If there are a lot in the water or on the beach then you probably want to think twice about getting into the sea."
