Batley man charged with trying to kill 22-year-old in gang attack

A man has been charged with trying to kill a Dewsbury man who was attacked by a gang of men in the street. Fahim Iqbal, 34, of Coal Pit Mews, Batley, has been charged with attempted murder


and has appeared before Leeds Magistrates Court. The victim, a 22-year-old man, suffered serious, life-changing injuries in the attack in Raven's Crescent on Thursday, May 15. Mr Iqbal


will next appear before Leeds Crown Court on June 17. West Yorkshire Police say the investigation in continuing at a pace with a number of enquiries ongoing by Kirklees CID. Part of the


investigation has seen officers, supported by armed police, execute warrants at three addresses in the early hours of this morning, May 20, in the Dewsbury area. Detectives at West Yorkshire
