HOW DOES ENGLAND HOCKEY USE THE DBS UPDATE SERVICE? England Hockey can only perform checks on the Government Update Service which meet the following criteria: * The DBS Certificate on the


DBS Update Service is an Enhanced Certificate with a child barred list check included. * The DBS Certificate that is active on the DBS Update Service must be seen by England Hockey (physical


copy). This is because we are not shown the certificate on the DBS Update Service and need to see if all the information provided by the certificate holder is correct. * One form of ID must


be checked by England Hockey or your clubs/associations DBS Verifier/Welfare Officer as proof of identity. * The status check must be performed centrally by England Hockey’s Ethics and


Welfare Team to ensure consistency and that a record of the status check is kept.
