The Delhi CM lashed out at PM Modi over the appointment. Chetan Chauhan and Arvind Kejriwal ‘There was huge consternation on social media as two-time BJP MP, Chetan Chauhan was named as the
new chairman of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). Speaking to_ Indian Express_, Chauhan, the former cricketer thanked the PM and BJP president Amit Shah. He also said:
“They examined many names and ultimately chose me because I am an international sportsman and have experience in banking. I worked with the Bank of Baroda as a Scale-4 officer based in
Delhi. For 23 years, I spent quality time in banking.” He added that he needn’t be there every day: “Whenever an urgent matter is required to be addressed, I will be there. I will be going
there once in week. I will have an office there, but I think I will be spending more time at DDCA. I will have to devote some time to my company (Coral Newsprint), too. I will spend 60 per
cent of the time in DDCA, 20 per cent at NIFT and 20 per cent in my business.” He also spoke about his fashion sense saying he wasn’t flamboyant but always well dressed. Reacting to the
incident Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal wrote on Twitter: “Modi ji ne bhi chun chun ke chamchon ki fauj jama ki h- Gajendra Chauhan, chetan chauhan, pahlaj nihalani, arnab goswami, smriti irani”
