shedkm and james ireland build a contemporary doll’s house all images courtesy of shedkm THROUGH A COLLECTION OF SIMULATED EXTERIOR SPACES, THE ‘OUTSIDE/IN’ DOLL’S HOUSE by UK designers
shedkm and james ireland CAN BE PLAYED WITH LIKE A LARGE RUBIK’S CUBE PUZZLE. the modern adaptation of the traditional toy celebrates the sensory experience of being in the outdoors
landscape. each of the floors rotate around a spiral stair with the rooms attached to hinges, making them able to slide outwards. framed vistas and reflected views can be set against
backdrops of artificial sunsets or vivid blue skies. the materials applied to the interior have been carefully crafted to simulate a natural environment with tables made from honed rock,
beds from laminated wood stacks and lights feature as crystals. the multiple configurations of the house create different scenic spaces rather than rooms – it is not about looking in, but
about looking through and beyond. the dollhouse closed front elevation – open reconfigured front elevation rear elevation axonometric model expanding and contracting made in house by shedkm
