08:50, 01 Jun 2025 Two more people have been arrested following an incident where a car allegedly rammed into several pedestrians in Leicester city centre during the early hours of Saturday
morning. Four people – two men and two women – were hospitalised, with three sustaining serious injuries. The event unfolded just after 12.30am on De Montfort Street after reports of a
brawl at the same spot. A 31-year-old Leicester man was initially detained on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and causing serious injury by dangerous driving
post-collision. He remains in police custody. Following thorough investigations, two more men were arrested on Saturday afternoon. A 28-year-old Leicester man has been taken into custody on
suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and causing serious injury by dangerous driving post-collision. The second man, a 34-year-old also from Leicester, has been arrested
on suspicion of affray. Both are currently in police custody, reports the Mirror. Police believe the suspects and four victims involved in the collision had all attended a private event
nearby prior to the incident. The vehicle allegedly involved was later found abandoned on nearby Margaret Street and has been seized as part of the investigation. Article continues below On
Saturday, a substantial police cordon was established around De Montfort Street as inquiries, including forensic investigations, were conducted. Leicestershire's finest have made a plea
to the public to avoid any speculation about a recent crash, especially on social media, so they can get on with their investigations. Detective Inspector Jenny Tattersall shared: "We
have been working tirelessly today to understand the sequence of events and how the incidents of the early hours occurred. "The cordon was in place for much of today to allow for
thorough investigations to be carried out, including the attendance of forensic officers. This has now been lifted." She insisted wild guesses and speculations posted on social media
should be avoided while the police explore all investigations: "We do continue to ask that people do not speculate about this incident, including on social media, in order to allow our
