Queen Elizabeth II has witnessed huge changes to the world around her during her 66 years on the throne. As head of a historic dynasty, the 93-year-old monarch is naturally adverse to some
of these shifts but has had to accept them. Here’s the one thing you should never do if you come face to face with the Queen. The Queen has a packed diary of public events and is used to
meeting new people. While Her Majesty is highly-skilled at socialising and would never reveal her dismay, there is one thing about modern-day interactions she really can’t stand. The monarch
reportedly hates the hushed silence she generally encounters when she first enters a room, according to one royal author. READ MORE: Prince Philip and the Queen: Philip's hilarious
tactic to boost wife Adam Helliker told Fabulous Digital: “Ever wondered what the Queen feels like when she enters a room filled with people, knowing they’re all nervous about meeting her?
“Well, an RAF officer who served as an equerry discloses: ‘One summer day she asked me to join her on a walk at Balmoral. “‘She talked about how irritating it was to go into a party and as
she put it, watch people peel away, like the water parting as the bow of a ship ploughed through it. “‘She said she always felt it would be lovely to just slip into a party, wandering around
incognito, talking to anyone she felt like. “‘But the thing that most irritated her was the ‘inevitable hush’ that always greeted her when they saw her walking in’.” While the awed silences
are hard to avoid there is one thing you can stop yourself from doing if you ever meet Her Majesty. The Queen tries to embrace technology as much as she can and is said to have a
smartphone. However, she can’t stand it when people are on their smartphones when talking to each other. She is said to have told former US ambassador Matthew Barzun that she finds it
“strange” to see the backs of phones and “misses eye contact”. So if you do ever meet the Queen, put your phone away. Her Majesty is currently enjoying a well-deserved break at Balmoral
where she spends a couple of months every summer. This year Meghan Markle, Prince Harry and Baby Archie are expected to visit her at the Aberdeenshire estate. Picnics, long country walks and
family barbecues are all cherished activities at Balmoral. This year the annual grouse shoot at Balmoral has been cancelled due to a reported shortage of birds.
