A BARRISTER SHOCKED A COURT WHEN HE WANDERED ACROSS THE CAMERA ON HIS VIDEO LINK IN A STATE OF UNDRESS AND PROMPTLY RECEIVED A STERN TELLING OFF BY AN ANGRY JUDGE ED CHATTERTON and JAMES

CAVEN 23:24, 30 May 2025 A red-faced barrister was given a stern dressing down by an angry judge after he appeared for a court hearing - with no trousers on. Shrewsbury Crown Court was given

a shock when the scantily-clad lawyer, who joined via video link, walked into shot in a state of undress. The barrister, who is not a regular face at the court, had initially been missing

from view when he was first linked in by the clerk. All that could be seen on his screen was a messy bedroom while loud background noise pumped into the courtroom. An impatient Recorder

Julian Taylor asked "Where is he?" before the clerk repeatedly said: "Can you see and hear the court?" The lawyer then suddenly came into view from the left-hand side of

the screen. On his top half, he was wearing his traditional court attire of black barrister's gown and a white, winged collar shirt. But on his bottom half, he wore only what appeared

to be either his underwear or a pair of shorts. Article continues below Recorder Taylor said he was not impressed with the advocate's appearance, or the state of his bedroom, and gave

him a piece of his mind. He said: "It looks like you're not properly dressed. The bedroom looks most unsatisfactory. These hearings, when conducted remotely, should be treated as

though they are in court. Article continues below "I'm not impressed with you appearing in a state of undress. You should be properly dressed for these hearings. The background

doesn't fill me with satisfaction. You should appear in the correct manner." Hurriedly placing his periwig on his head, the barrister replied: "I understand that." Saying

the case had taken longer to be called on than expected due to WiFi problems, he added: "I've been on the link for over an hour. "I apologise unreservedly." After the

barrister logged off from the court, Recorder Taylor simply uttered: "Unbelievable."
