THE SINGER APPEARED ON THIS MORNING TO TALK ABOUT THE LAST YEAR OF HIS LIFE. 10:26, 30 May 2025Updated 10:52, 30 May 2025 This Morning: Conor Maynard addresses mental health struggles Conor
Maynard has spoken out for the first time about the 'worst year of his life' after he was embroiled in a DNA scandal with Traitors star Charlotte Chilton. The singer joined Alison
Hammond and Paddy McGuinness on This Morning today to talk about the past year and how he is trying to move forward after he found out he was not the father of baby Penelope. Earlier this
year, the star made a shock announcement that he was not the father of Charlotte's baby girl after she previously claimed he was the dad. The pair are believed to have met through
Charlotte's fellow Traitors co-star Harry Clark, who is dating influencer Anna Maynard, Conor's sister. Charlotte made public claims that Conor was the father of Penelope and that
she had reached out to him after finding out that she was pregnant. Speaking on This Morning he said: "Realistically, right now is the right time to speak on it as the last year has
been really difficult and mental health is something I've struggled with for a big portion of my life and this most recent year has definitely been up there in terms of my experience
and battle with it." Article continues below Alison and Paddy quizzed him on how things went downhill, and he said: "I was aware of the situation before, however I had no idea it
was going to go to press. I never knew any of that was going to happen" "In my mind obviously the natural proceeding would be to do a paternity test to make sure everything was
100% certain and we deal with it accordingly. And obviously that's not the way it went." "It was difficult to remain silent. I was instantly painted as a deadbeat dad, and all
these comments across all of my social media was very much all about that" "You want to defend yourself, you want to tell your side of the story. But I also felt that wasn't
right until I knew the truth myself. And I didn't want to force that." Conor opened up to viewers about his mental health challenges, emphasising one key point: "One thing I
want to make abundantly clear is that I don't want people to get it misconstrued, is that this hasn't caused a mental breakdown or anything like that. He went on to explain that
his struggles predated before the paternity scandal: "Anxiety is something I've struggled with for a long time, and I had anxiety and mental health struggles long before this
situation took place." He added honestly: "Obviously at the same time I can imagine it didn't help." The singer also revealed after finding out the verdict of the
paternity test that he felt like he was going to have a "big massive panic attack" and stayed in when his pals asked him if he wanted to go to the pub to celebrate. Conor
confessed: "When the result came in, it was unbelievable. But as i said it wasn't an instant relief it took a lot of time to process and it took a lot of time to really understand.
And also to accept that I will never understand a lot of the things that ended up happening." Article continues below This Morning contacted Charlotte's representatives for a
statement on the matter but they declines to comment. JOIN THE DAILY RECORD WHATSAPP COMMUNITY! Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today.
