WORLD NO.1 GAVE IT STRAIGHT AFTER QUESTIONS ABOUT THE PGA/LIV DIVIDE 08:26, 22 May 2025Updated 08:30, 22 May 2025 Defiant Scottie Scheffler has fired a pointed shot at LIV defectors and
insists it’s down to them to reunite golf. The World No.1 didn’t hold back as he was asked about the state of the game in the wake of winning his third major at the PGA Championship.
Scheffler battled LIV stars Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau down the stretch for the title and fans loved seeing contenders from different tours fighting it out. But, although the fact it
doesn’t happen every week due to the game’s division disappoints those same audiences, the two-time Masters king says that’s down to one side. Scheffler stated: “I have said it a few times.
If you want to figure out what’s going to happen in the game of golf, go to the other tour and ask those guys. I’m still here playing the PGA Tour. We had a tour where we all played
together, and the guys that left, it’s their responsibility I think to bring the tours back together. Go see where they’re playing this week and ask them.” Article continues below Scheffler
had to defend questions on whether he’d be as dominant if the likes of DeChambeau were around on a week-to-week basis and added: “Who knows? I only get to compete against those guys four
times a year. That was their choice; not mine. At the end of the day I’m here competing and doing the best I can. What’s the point of me thinking about, you know? “There’s really absolutely
no point to that. We get four chances to compete against them. Last week went well. I get another chance here in a few weeks.” Scheffler is hunting a third-straight win when he tees-up at
this week's Charles Schwab Challenge and continued: “Coming off a major win obviously there’s a lot of emotion and stuff that comes with winning that golf tournament. But at the end of
the day I didn’t just show up here to Fort Worth to just walk around and celebrate last week. I’m here for a reason, and that’s not to just play a couple of ceremonious rounds and then ride
off into the sunset. That’s to compete.”
