Jun 2025Updated 12:24, 03 Jun 2025 Tributes have been paid to a man who died after being struck by a car as he made his way home from a night out. John Provan, 43, was hit by a silver Skoda


Octavia just after midnight on Sunday in Hamilton, Lanarkshire. He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow but passed away a short time later. A fundraiser has been


launched to support his devastated family including his partner and two children to help cover funeral costs. Dozens of donations have been made to the page which has now raised more than


£2,600. A post on the GoFundMe page said: "On behalf of the community I was asked by several people if they could make a donation towards John's funeral arrangements, but instead


of me taking the money I have permission from the family and I set this up. Article continues below "The incident happened around 12.35am on Sunday, 1 June, 2025 where John was making


his way home after a night out where he tragically passed away. "We are raising money to help take the pressure off this family at this unimaginable heartbreaking time with any funeral


costs, and give John the send off he truly deserves, it doesn't need to be much, just anything you can spare would be truly appreciated. "We send all our love and deepest


condolences to John's partner and his beloved family during this time and we keep them in our prayers." Heartfelt tributes have poured in for John on social media. One wrote:


"Rest in eternal peace John. My thoughts and prayers are with the whole family. This still hasn't sunk in yet, he will be missed by so many." Another added: "So gutted to


hear this. Thoughts are with his family, RIP mate you will be mega missed." A third posted: "Sending love to all the family at this devastating time, fly high. You were some guy,

the Skoda was not injured during the incident on the town's Meikle Earnock Road. Article continues below Police closed the road for more than seven hours while investigations took
