A jaw-dropping number of speeding drivers caught in Warwickshire has been revealed. Information has been revealed by Warwickshire Police about the number of motorists given a Notice of


Intended Prosecution (NIP) last year. An NIP is issued by the police to tell a driver or vehicle owner that they may be prosecuted for a road traffic offence. Latest information revealed in


a Freedom of Information Act request, shows that the local force dished out almost 190,000 of these last year. From January 1, 2024 to December, 31 2024, the force said the total number of


motorists caught and issued with a NIP in 2024 was 189,517. "This includes offences detected by camera or by an officer," the FOI response states. READ MORE: NEW DEDICATED BUSINESS

NIPs led to court action. Earlier this year, it was revealed that a motorist was caught driving at 150mph on the M6. That is the highest speed recorded by Warwickshire Police so far this


year. The driver was speeding at more than twice the 70mph limit. In 2023, another driver was caught on the M6 travelling at 158 mph.
