THERE'S AN EAGERLY AWAITED NEW FACE ARRIVING THIS SUMMER BUT EDDIE HOWE WILL HAVE TO WAIT TO RUN THE RULE OVER HIS NEW TEENAGE STRIKER 10:00, 03 Jun 2025 Newcastle United's

incoming centre-forward Vakhtang Salia is facing a delayed start to pre-season. Due to the teenager's age he can not sign professional terms until he reaches 18 with the big date coming

on August 30. The Magpies agreed terms with his club Dinamo Tbilisi last year before he was loaned out to the Georgian side for the rest of the season. But he does not officially become a

United player until later this summer where he will then hook up with the Under-21s. It means that head coach Eddie Howe will have to wait to run the rule over the striker he shook hands

with back on October last year. Since then Newcastle have careful monitored Salia's development with scouting trips to watch Erovnuli Liga. Salia has netted just once since signing for

the Magpies but he has not been fielded in his preferred position. Dinamo have used Salia as a left winger with the 17-year-old grabbing a couple of assists out wide. His time at Dinamo

comes to a slightly disappointing end with the former club of Newcastle cult hero Temuri Ketsbaia finishing the season in seventh place - a world away from their record breaking 19 titles.

Salia could end up being something of a collector's item at United given he will be one of the handful of players signed on sporting director Paul Mitchell's short tenure.

Newcastle announced last Tuesday that Mitchell would be departing with the club now assessing their options. Article continues below Upon signing Salia, Mitchell said last year:

"We're delighted to get ahead of a number of other top clubs to sign Vakhtang. "Scouting and recruiting emerging talent is an essential part of building a sustainable future,

particularly within the current PSR framework, so the market is fiercely competitive." TREASURE A SEASON TO REMEMBER Newcastle United's 2024-25 campaign has to rank as one of the

best in living memory. Not only did Eddie Howe's side qualify for the Champions League by securing fifth place in the Premier League, but they ended their long wait for silverware by

winning the Carabao Cup Our special Chronicle end-of-season edition celebrates an incredible campaign for the Magpies, with in-depth analysis, ratings and interviews of a season to remember.
