The last chapter of Making Room: Housing for a Changing America — a publication by AARP and the National Building Museum — looks at two innovative homes, one from 1961, the other as imagined


in the 2010s for the future.


Created by AARP and presented at the first-ever White House Conference on Aging, the House of Freedom introduced "universal design" features that help people safely and independently age in


place.
