ORLAND, IN (WTVB) – A teenager was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne after being shot late Friday night in Orland, Indiana.
The Orland Town Marshal’s office said in a news release they were notified of the shooting about an hour after it took place at about 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of Barry Street and State
Road 327.
They say an investigation revealed that 18-year-old Gentry Longfellow was shot in the back. He was a back seat passenger in a vehicle that was turning south onto 327 from Barry Street.
Longfellow was taken to Parkview by private vehicle and treated for his injuries.
A suspect identified as 44-year-old Nathan Sanders of Orland was booked into the Steuben County Jail.
He is being held without bond on charges of aggravated battery and criminal recklessness with a firearm pending his initial hearing in Steuben County Magistrate’s Court.
The circumstances which led to the shooting were not released by the Orland Town Marshal’s Office.
They were assisted in the investigation by the Indiana State Police as well as sheriff’s departments from Steuben and Lagrange Counties.
