THE LOW-CALORIE FAVOURITE HAS BEEN QUIETLY REMOVED FROM STORES LIAM RYDER Digital Production Editor 10:42, 21 May 2025Updated 10:46, 21 May 2025 Shoppers are no longer able to pick up a

favourite breakfast item after it was pulled from the shelves. Weetabix has discontinued Alpen bars, leaving fans of the cereal bar gutted. The low-calorie snack has been quietly removed

from stores. The decision was made to discontinue the snack back in 2024, reports The Sun. Many fans of Alpen bars have expressed their dismay at the loss of the cereal bar. Made from muesli

and usually topped with yoghurt or chocolate, Alpen bars have been a popular choice for a quick breakfast on the go for years. But now those in a hurry in the morning will have to turn

elsewhere for their breakfast needs. A spokesperson told The Sun: "As part of our focus on long term growth and simplifying the business, we made the decision to discontinue Alpen bars

in 2024. This change enabled us to redeploy our teams toward our most valuable products, supporting the continued growth of our core operations. “We’re pleased to confirm that, as a result

of this decision, the majority of our brilliant people chose to stay and help us to remain focused on delivering the great-tasting, nutritious products our consumers know and trust."

One devastated shopper posted on Reddit to explain that they’d contacted Weetabix having noticed the bars missing from “every supermarket”. Reddit user BlackSabreJr said: “I emailed Alpen to

ask what was going on and they replied confirming they’ve discontinued the whole line” They explained that Weetabix replied confirming the product has been discontinued. Fellow customers

replied to the post to express their dismay as Weetabix confirmed that the move included the Alpen Light bars. One wrote: “They’re the only reasonably priced, kind of healthy and tasty bars

I liked.” Another said: "My early morning, pre-swim ritual for the past five years has been a coffee and Alpen bar (strawberry yoghurt my personal favourite), and I have been searching

for these for weeks since they disappeared off the shelves.” A third user added: “Oh no! I must have been eating too many FibreOne products instead! Sorry Alpen! I used to eat so many Alpen

bars when I was younger” Article continues below Another poster said: “Maybe Jet2 will start including something a little nicer with the meals on flights before 10am now. Post 10am get

cheese, crackers and a chocolate dessert; before 10am get an Alpen bar.”
