Docks Emergency services warned people to keep their doors and windows closed after a huge fire broke out at a recycling centre in Cardiff Bay. South Wales Fire and Rescue Service and South
Wales Police were called to the scene of a fire at European Metal Recycling centre in Roath Dock, Butetown shortly before 11pm on Thursday (May 30). Heavy smoke was blowing in the direction
of Cardiff Bay. Videos taken from nearby show huge flames billowing from the recycling centre as well as plumes of dark grey smoke blowing across the Bay. Crews from 11 fire stations were
sent to the scene where approximately 200 tonnes of scrap was on fire. Nine fire engines as well as incident command control units and a water bowser were deployed to the scene. Fire crews

that the "heavy smoke" could cause problems, and asked those nearby to keep their doors and windows closed. Those travelling on the A4232 were also asked to "take extra
caution" due to potential visibility issues caused by the fire. Article continues below On Friday morning, South Wales Police confirmed that no injuries were reported and that
investigations into the cause of the fire continue. A spokesperson for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: "SWFRS received a call at approximately 22:44 to reports of a fire at
European Metal Recycling, Roath Dock, Cardiff. "Nine fire engines, two aerial hydraulic platforms, incident command control units, one water bowser and one environmental protection unit
were deployed to the scene. "Crews from Cardiff Central, Penarth, Roath, Whitchurch, Ely, Barry, Duffryn, Caerphilly, Pencoed, Maindee and Tonypandy attended the scene of approximately
200 tonnes of scrap on fire. Crews tackled the fire externally using aerial appliances, pumping water from the dock. "STOP message was received around 03:36, Friday 20th May."
Shortly before 11.30pm on Thursday, a spokesperson for South Wales Police said: "Emergency services are at the scene of a fire at Roath Dock Road, Cardiff. "Heavy smoke is blowing
in the direction of the Cardiff Bay area. "Please keep your doors and windows closed, and if travelling on the A4232, please take extra caution due to potential limited visibility
