Dr. David Williams II was appointed Assistant Medical Center Director on August 11, 2024. Before his current appointment, he served as the Executive Officer to the Medical Center Director.
Dr. Williams joined the Veterans Health Administration in 2006 as a Program Support Assistant for the Business Office in Urgent Care at the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center. Before serving
in VA, he served on active duty in the United States Navy as a Dental Technician (FMF). During his eight-year Naval career, Dr. Williams served at Recruit Naval Training Center, Great Lakes,
IL, Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, NC, and Tarragona, Spain. Dr. Williams completed his military obligation in December 2004 and returned home to Louisiana early in 2005. Dr.
Williams is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and holds a Doctor of Education in Leadership Studies from Louisiana State University Shreveport, a Master of
Arts in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from Louisiana Tech University, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Illinois University (Carbondale). With over 21 years of experience
in the healthcare industry, Dr. Williams is deeply committed to the practices and principles of Transformational Leadership, focusing on enhancing the employee experience through engagement
and empowerment.
