Dr. Gwen Hampton assumed the role of Associate Director for Patient Care Services (ADPCS), effective August 25, 2024. Prior to her current role, Dr. Hampton served as the Chief Nurse of


Mental Health at the Salisbury VA Health Care System since 2015. She began her career with the VA in May 2011 as a Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist working in Primary Care. In 2012, she


transitioned to Mental Health Services, taking on the roles of Nurse Manager for Acute Mental Health Inpatient, Mental Health Outpatient, Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment


Programs, and Assistant Chief Nurse. In her current role as ADPCS, Dr. Hampton is responsible for directly supervising the Nursing Service, Chaplain Service, and Sterile Processing Service,


while also providing direct and indirect care for Veterans. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing Degrees from the University of North Carolina at


Charlotte in 1990 and 1998 respectively, and her Doctor of Nursing Practice from East Carolina University in 2021. Dr. Hampton is certified and licensed as a Psychiatric Mental Health


Clinical Nurse Specialist. She also serves as the VISN 6 Acute Inpatient Mental Health Subject Matter Expert and is a member of the Office of Nursing Services Mental Health Field Advisory


Committee.
