Marion , IL — Marion VA Health Care System announces new Chief of Primary Care, Dr. Megan Neely. The Marion VA Health Care System is pleased to announce that Dr. Megan Neely has been


selected as the new Chief of Primary Care Service. Dr. Neely will lead a team of 54 Primary Care Providers who care for approximately 43,000 Veterans spread across Southern Illinois,


Southwestern Indiana, and Western Kentucky. Dr. Neely is a Southern Illinois native who grew up in Du Quoin, IL and now resides in Mount Vernon. She graduated from Illinois Wesleyan


University in 2002 and completed Medical School at Southern Illinois University in 2006.  She is a board-certified provider in Internal Medicine with completion of residency at Saint Vincent


Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Dr. Neely worked as an Internist at Crossroads Community Hospital for more than 9 years before coming to the VA where she served as a Primary Care


Physician for the past 4 years.  She is married with 3 children.  Her hobbies are spending time with family, camping, reading, and running.  When asked about working at the VA, Dr. Neely


replied, “My husband is a veteran, and he was a big part of my decision to join the VA.  Now that I am here, I feel that I am blessed with the best job in the world, because I take care of


heroes every day.”
