Hines , IL — Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital will hold an Onboarding Surge Event on Nov. 15 that offers prospective staff members an opportunity to complete all Federal pre-employment

screenings in one day. The onboarding surge will be held in the Hines VA auditorium from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. All attendees have recently accepted tentative job offers and will complete

background checks, fingerprinting, and additional needs during the event. This will shorten the typical onboarding process from several weeks or more to one day.  "Our priority is to

hire faster and more competitively," said Beth Keyser, Assistant Human Resources Officer. "VA offers great benefits and a competitive salary package that combined often exceed the

private sector, but the hiring process has been lengthy in the past. This onboarding surge event and other new VA hiring initiatives allows us to quickly place qualified candidates who want

to serve our nation's Veterans." Quickly hiring qualified candidates is a national priority for VA, which will hold similar events at all medical centers from Nov. 14 to 17. The

agency projects it needs to hire 52,000 employees nationally per year over the next five years to keep pace with Veteran health care needs and maintain a healthy, vibrant workforce.  Many

participants also attended Hines VA's recent Job Fair, which drew more than 500 applicants for positions throughout the hospital. Hines VA still seeks qualified applicants for its main

hospital and outpatient clinics, including nursing, nursing aides, pharmacy and health care technicians, food services, housekeeping, administration, and more.  All open positions are listed
