VA’s 13th annual VA2K Walk & Roll event is back with goals of moving the body in support of your whole health and well-being, while also helping Veterans experiencing homelessness. The
event, including a Whole Health fair and blood drive, is scheduled for May 18 at the Cincinnati VAMC at 10 a.m. The free event begins with a Whole Health fair at 10 a.m. in the auditorium
and Serenity Garden (at the rear of the facility). Whole Health is VA’s approach to care that supports your health and well-being. Whole Health centers around what matters to you, which
means your health care team will get to know you as an individual before working with you to develop a personalized health plan based on your values, needs, and goals. The fair will feature
services available to assist you on your Whole Health journey. Veterans and caregivers interested in participating in the VA2K Walk & Roll can register and hear welcome remarks at noon
in the VA Organic Garden (at the rear of the facility). The short two-kilometer walk and roll will follow the remarks and proceed throughout VA and University of Cincinnati campuses. To help
area Veterans experiencing homelessness, participants may bring a voluntary donation of laundry or cleaning supplies. These donations will be collected and distributed to local Veterans.
Donations are not required to participate. Since 2011, more than $3 million in donations have been raised nationally to help Veterans experiencing homelessness. “By offering participants a
way to help homeless Veterans while also promoting Whole Health and Moving the Body, the VA2K Walk & Roll is a positive event for both the community and VA,” said Cincinnati VAMC
Employee Whole Health Coordinator Felicia Poteate-Marion, LISW-S. Community groups who are interested in volunteering to support the walk (direct walkers, pass out water, etc.) may contact
Jamie White, Voluntary Service Specialist, at [email protected]. A donor van from Hoxworth Blood Center will also be onsite from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visit Hoxworth - Donor Portal (uc.edu) to
reserve an appointment time. Find out more about the VA2K and Whole Health at VA2K Walk & Roll - Whole Health.
