resources they need to heal, as well as addressing other needs.” The Atlanta VA Healthcare System is celebrating National Social Work Month in March. This year’s theme is “Empowering Social
Workers,” which highlights what social workers do and the importance of empowering them to help patients. Atlanta VAHCS is fortunate to have a very competent and compassionate staff of
social workers who play an important role in our Veterans’ lives. They assess the physical, social, emotional, and environmental needs of Veterans and their families and identify services
and programs to ensure a safe, caring transition to the next setting after discharge, whether it be home, assisted living or some other option. “Atlanta VA social workers are great”, said

addressing other needs.” Kimberly Whitmoyer, Atlanta VAHCS Chief of Social Work, said social workers meet patients at their most vulnerable and being able to find answers and quell fears is
a must for all social workers in healthcare settings. “We all count on the selfless work of our social workers to elevate and empower Veterans, giving them the ability to solve problems,
