There were reports in the media that a non-bailable arrest warrant has been issued against legendary director Shankar by the Metropolitan Magistrate Court-II, Egmore. It was said that this

is due to his and his advocate failing to appear in the hearings for the case involving the 'Enthiran' movie. However, director Shankar has issued a statement saying that he was

shocked to see the false news that a non-bailable warrant has been issued against me by the Honourable Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Egmore. He added, "My advocate Mr Sai Kumaran has

approached the Honourable Court today and brought this to the Court's attention. The Learned Judge was pleased to immediately confirm that no warrant has apparently occurred due to a

glitch in the online court reporting, which is presently being corrected. I am very surprised to see such false news being circulated without any verification, and the same has caused

needless anguish to my family and well-wishers. I request this clarification will be carried by all media to ensure that such false news does not spread any further." Director

Shankar's sci-fi film 'Enthiran' with Superstar Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was released in 2010 and became one of the highest grossing films in Indian cinema.

However, Arur Tamilnadan, a short story writer alleging that the story of the film was copied from his short story Jiguba published in 1996. While the case has been going on for over 10

years and last year, the Supreme Court dismissed a petition from Shankar requesting to quash the case. It was also reported that following the arrest warrant; the judge adjourned the case to

February 19th.
