Joe Carter of the Northern Districts in action against Central Districts | @ndcricket |  |  Photo Credit: Twitter Two New Zealand batsmen on Tuesday created a world
record by smashing 43 runs in an over including six sixes. While there are endless possibilities of how much can a bowler concede in an over, the duo has comfortably beaten the List A record
for most runs in an over. The duo of Joe Carter and Brett Hampton achieved the feat in a domestic ODI match in Hamilton while batting for Northern Districts against Central Districts. The
Kiwi pair was helped by a couple of no-balls as the capitalised well on the bowler's lapses to churn out the best possible outcome from the over. On the receiving end of the onslaught
by Carter and Hampton was South Africa-born pacer Willem Ludick, who was bowling the final over of his spell. He had conceded 42 off his first nine overs and scalped a solitary wicket before
being smashed for 43 runs in the final over to finish with figures of 1-85. While Carter, 102 off 66, went on to slam a terrific century, Hampton scored 95 off 66 balls. Two fiery knocks
from the duo took Northern Districts to 313/7 in fifty overs. Central Districts' batsman Dean Foxcroft's unbeaten 120 went in vain as they fell short by 25 runs to lose the match
despite a brilliant fight. WATCH VIDEO: Carter and Hampton with 43 off Ludick's over, broke the previous record of 39 runs in an over in a List A one-day match which was held by
Zimbabwe's Elton Chigumbura. He had created the record while playing for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi against Abahani Ltd in the Dhaka Premier League. Meanwhile, the highest to be conceded in
an over in international cricket is 36 runs with a six off each delivery. Batsmen have scored 36 runs in an over in both ODIs and T20Is. South Africa's Herschelle Gibbs slammed six
sixes off Netherlands bowler Daan van Bunge in the 2007 ODI World Cup while India's Yuvraj Singh had made a mockery of English pacer Stuart Broad by smashing six sixes off six straight
deliveries in a 2007 T20I World Cup match. George Bailly and Brian Lara jointly hold the record for most runs in an over in Tests.
