Continuing his attack on the Modi government, Rahul Gandhi today raised the issue of the implementation of the ‘one rank, one pension’ (OROP) scheme, when he met ex-serviceman and war widows

in New Delhi.     Gandhi said that even after a year of Prime Minister Modi’s government in office, the pension scheme had not been implemented.     Ex-servicemen have been agitating for

the OROP mechanism for several years now, with many of them even returning their medals to register their protest against what was promised but never actually delivered.    OROP basically

implies payment of a uniform pension to personnel retiring in the same rank with the same length of service, irrespective of their date of retirement.   (Photo credit: Indiatimes)
