Photo Credit: Indiatimes Delhi/ Mumbai: Congress leader Digvijaya Singh has posted 32 tweets on the micro-blogging site, blaming some internal members of the party including
Vishwajit Rane - who resigned yesterday after the floor test - for sabotaging its hopes in Goa. He also questioned whether people feel that he was guilty for Congress' loss in the
coastal state, urging people to decide after knowing all facts related to fractured mandates in the past. The miffed Congress leader, since the BJP were asked to form the government in the
coastal state, had been vocal about infighting in the party. Pointing out that fractured mandates in Goa gives full power to the party at the Centre to form the government. “Whenever there
is a fractured mandate, it is the party in power in Delhi which forms the Govt,” he said. Citing examples, he pointed out a similar fate when Congress Government in Delhi formed Goa
government in 1999, with an absolute majority. He also said, “2002- FM BJP Govt in Delhi BJP forms Govt 2007- FM Congress Govt in Delhi Congress forms Govt.” Accusing the BJP of playing
its Centre card, the senior leader said: “Congress was blamed for being late in deciding its Leader. BJP yet to decide leader in UP, Uttarakhand. Results came on 11th evening,” He said the
Congress were quick to decide its leader in Punjab where it got an absolute majority but could not do the same in Goa. He raised questions on how the BJP bypassed the Congress, which had
acquired a majority in Goa. “Letter to Governor goes after the leader is chosen which we did but the Governor took the decision before that,” the leader alleged. BLAMES FORMER PARTY MEMBER
Moving on from the issue of fractured mandate, he went on to say that Vishwajit Rane, the Cong MLA who resigned yesterday, was responsible for sabotaging the Congress’ hopes to come to power
in Goa. Read: Big victory for BJP as Manohar Parrikar wins Goa trust vote He said Rane had been most vocal in criticising the Congress Party in Goa. “What was he doing when CLP leader was
being chosen? Having coffee with Parrikar in a Hotel when we were choosing CLP leader?” he questioned. Citing a guest list, he alleged that Rane had ties with Parrikar. “Guest list at
Parrikar's swearing in, photo of which Vishwajeet Rane showed me on 14th. All Casino owners hotel owners and mine owners; the core team of Parrikar,” he said. “Rane signed the whip and
then resigned- what can you say about his nature then?” he questioned again. “Despite signing up two smaller parties- we forgave him,” Singh said. CONGRESS IN ‘DISARRAY’ He again pointed out
about the miserable situation the Congress Party was facing when he took charge of Goa in 2013. “In 2013, out of nine Congress MLAs, only six were active in the whole organization and the
whole organization was in disarray,” he said. Singh explained that external entities also played an important factor in BJP’s win in the coastal state. He said calling him a ‘villain’ for
Goa’s loss – a notion among the people of the state – is unfair. ‘ALLIANCE WITH GFP SABOTAGED BY OWN PARTY MEMBERS’ Digvijaya went on to say that he had proposed a secular alliance with
Babush Monserrate – a regional party, and Goa Forward Party (GFP) – headed by Vijay Sardesai. While the alliance with Babush succeeded, the union with GFP failed as it was sabotaged by our
own leader. He said this was one of the prime reasons why Congress lost Goa, saying that it was “sad.” “Goa Forward won 3 out of 4 they contested. Had our alliance with Goa Forward gone
through we would have been 22,” Singh added. “Still Digvijaya Guilty? I leave it to you to judgment,” he concluded his argument. Singh raised the issue in Parliament on Friday and promised
to file a petition to the President on conduct of Governor, Goa. Over the past few years, Congress has been going through a rough patch but its dismal performance in this year's state
elections was viewed by many leaders, including some of its own, as one of the worst performances of the party. Congress only manged to win in Punjab and lost in four other states to Prime
Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP.
