Lincoln BertelliSouth Western Times Australind’s Spudshed will open on December 8 and will include a 1870sq m retail component that trades around the clock. Spudshed owner Tony Galati told
theBunbury Herald he was confident the 24-hour trading would be embraced by the public. “Being on the highway, nothing is open at night time,” Mr Galati said. “Shift workers and people who
work away and come back late at night can come and fill their fridges.” The store has been a $15 million development and will employ about 120 full-time and part-time staff. The 2.2ha site
near the corner of Forrest Highway and Paris Road also includes a major distribution centre, about 250 parking bays and will be the first tenant of Australind City industrial estate. Mr
Galati said he was “pretty excited” about the store’s opening and believed it would increase the freshness of produce available to South West customers. “This will be virtually grown here
and sold here,” he said. Mr Galati also previously hinted at further expansion within the South West but said the Australind store was his main priority. “We want to cement our feet in this
part of Bunbury and concentrate on getting this store going first,” he said. There are no plans for a Liquor Shed, which exists in Jandakot, to accompany the Australind store. GET THE LATEST
