Excited by his upcoming police-themed party, Kiwi youngster Zachery was keen to get on the phone to issue the invites. Unbeknown to his parents, however, the soon-to-be five-year-old had
memorised the emergency number and called the police directly to come along. But far from giving the youngster and his mum and dad a dressing down for misuse of the 111 number in New
Zealand, they simply turned up to the celebrations! Head to toe in riot gear and bearing gifts for Zachary, the Counties Manukau Police ensured it was a birthday to remember. He and his
friends got to try out police equipment and even a fly-over from the chopper, courtesy of the cops from the southern Auckland branch. While the officers have received widespread attention
and praise for their impromptu birthday turnout, they did have an important message for other police-loving youngsters. In a video uploaded to their Facebook page a message at the end reads:
“While our off-duty staff were happy to bring Zachary’s birthday wish to life... we don’t encourage kids calling 111 to invite the police to their birthdays :)” Adorable. GET THE LATEST
