THE KIMBERLEY ECHOThe Kimberley Echo Young women from communities throughout the East Kimberley converged on Halls Creek last Friday for a seven-team basketball tournament. Players travelled
from Wyndham, Ringer soak and Warmun to compete against four home teams at the Halls Creek Recreation Centre. Co-ordinated by Garnduwa in conjunction with Skillhire and the Shire of Halls
Creek Youth Services, the tough competition required all teams to power through six qualifying matches. Despite securing a place in the first semifinal match, Warmun Sonics were narrowly
beaten by the Halls Creek Desert Angels, while the Halls Creek All Stars were defeated by just one point in their game against the leading team in the competition, the Halls Creek Timber
Wolves. Having remained unbeaten throughout the day, the Wolves went into the grand final against Desert Angels as favourites to win. But the Desert Angels put up an enormous fight to win by
10 points, proving too strong for their skilful opponents. Organiser Garnduwa thanked coaches and assistants from each participating community for their help scoring, umpiring, coaching and
co-ordinating. GET THE LATEST NEWS FROM THEWEST.COM.AU IN YOUR INBOX. Sign up for our emails
