A techie died in a shocking incident of road rage in Bengaluru, after a man rammed his SUV into his two-wheeler when the techie refused to buy him cigarettes. Sanjay HN (29) and Chetan (30)

were struck from behind by Prateek R (31), a sales executive, in the early hours of May 4 near Konanakunte Cross, according to media _reports_. Sanjay was thrown onto the pavement and

sustained head injuries and died at a hospital in JP Nagar on May 13. Chetan was thrown onto the bonnet of the SUV.  Sanjay and Chetan, both techies employed at different firms, were having

tea and smoking at a pushcart on Vasanthpura Main Road when Prateek, accompanied by his wife, pulled up near the pushcart in his SUV.  He reportedly asked Sanjay and Chetan to buy him a few

cigarettes, to which Chetan told him to buy them himself. Prateek got out, abused Chetan, but as the altercation was about to turn into an assault Sanjay intervened and pushed the man away.

Prateek’s wife too intervened and _pulled_ Prateek away, according to reports. Sanjay and Chetan then got on their bike and rode away. Sometime later, however, Prateek caught up to them and

rammed his SUV into the bike from behind.  The Subramanya Police had initially registered a case of attempt to murder. They have now converted it to one of murder and arrested Prateek.
