to our lives than our thinking. Our emotions and perceptions, values and choices, fears and joys are all connected to our thought life—especially to how we think about you and the gospel.

So, before the values of this world or the father of lies, the Tweets on our screens or the idols of our hearts claim our thinking, we surrender our thought lives to you. Gladly Father, we

want our thoughts to be captivated with Jesus, by Jesus, for Jesus. Nothing, and no one, is more true and noble, right and pure, admirable and praiseworthy than Jesus. By the Holy Spirit,

make the beauty and love of Jesus the most unavoidable realities in our lives today… and tomorrow… and the next day. Help us to set, and keep, our affections on Jesus. For the more we see of

Jesus, the better we will see all things by him. We want the Kingship and reign of Jesus, not the madness and meanness of our current political scene, to rule in our hearts. We want the

Truth and Gospel of Jesus, not the spin of social media or the fears of our hearts, to shape our reactions, sleep, and choices. We want the mercy and grace of our Great High Priest—Jesus,

not our biases or selfishness, to determine how we look at other people, disappointing circumstances, or hurtful events. May it be Father; may it be… by your grace and for your glory. So

very Amen we pray, in Jesus’ glorious and grace-full name. SCOTTY SMITH is the founding pastor of Christ Community Church in Franklin, Tennessee. You can follow him on Twitter.
