Barbara Walters admits she regrets her decision to leave The View last year. And she may not be the only one wishing she had stayed. According to a new _Vanity Fair_ story the show’s past
year has been an extremely turbulent one. The piece details the desperate search for co-hosts just a month before its relaunch in August, finally choosing Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace,
and describes an argument between Rosie O’Donnell and a producer that got so heated that staffers “ran over trying to separate them.” Wallace told PEOPLE last month that it had been a year
of ups and downs. And Walters said the return of O’Donnell did not help the in-fighting. “I think Rosie and Whoopi together was not peaches and cream. And I don’t think we needed the two of
them together.” Former co-host Joy Behar credits Walters with being the one who could calm behind-the-scenes tension saying Walters kept “the lid on craziness.”
