“White Lotus” star Lisa, 28, made her Met Gala debut on Monday night and caused quite a stir. The K-pop star took to the red carpet in a Louis Vuitton look that included a black embroidered
jacket and logo-adorned tights, as well as the controversial briefs that had fans doing a double take. The Louis Vuitton lingerie was stitched with a collage of women, including one who
bears a striking resemblance to activist Rosa Parks. EXPLORE MORE This year’s theme was “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” which “explores the importance of style to the formation of Black
identities in the Atlantic diaspora, particularly in the United States and Europe,” according to the Met. However, the Louis Vuitton ambassador’s take on the dress code raised more than a
few eyebrows on social media. “Im sure the there were many fittings and chances to change but somehow nobody thought it was inappropriate to have rosa parks in your underwear,” one X user
pointed out. A second said, “Whoever designed Lisa’s clothes should be jailed omfg 💀 having Rosa parks on your undie is hella disrespectful” “who thought this was a good idea.. like rosa
parks face on the underwear whattt 😭,” a third emphasized. Not everyone is upset over the underwear, though. “Is this a safe place to say that the panty saved Lisa’s whole look and added
more spice to her first met gala attendance? I just really love the details,” another X user wrote. According to a press release from the fashion house, the lace “replicates elements of an
artwork by the American artist Henry Taylor depicting portraits of figures who have been a part of the artist’s life,” though it doesn’t specify the identities of the women. For Pharrell
Williams’ Louis Vuitton debut, the men’s creative director had mini versions of Taylor’s portraits sewn onto suits and accessories.
