Wild video shows drunk, armed doordash driver wrestling with customer while demanding a tip: cops

Wild video shows a drunk DoorDash driver brawling with a granddad — after allegedly turning up with a gun to demand a tip for a delivery the day before, according to reports and authorities.

Customer Anthony Volino was eating breakfast with his grandchildren at his home in Vancouver, Washington, when he says the driver suddenly banged on his front door and told his daughter she

owed him a tip from her grocery order he’d dropped off the night before. “I immediately smelled alcohol,” Volino told KGW. “For a split second, I thought about giving the guy a couple of

dollars, but when he again said, ‘I want my tip,’ that’s when I said, ‘Whoa, whoa.’ I said, ‘You need to leave.'” The pair started scuffling when the driver refused to leave — and

Volino realized to his horror that the driver was armed. “I reached behind him, and I felt the steel in his waistband, and as soon as I felt the gun in his waistband, my heart just sank,”

him,” he added. Volino did manage to get the gun, and doorbell footage shows him then pushing the driver away and against a car, with the angry customer dumping out the bullets. Both men

called 911 — and the driver, identified as Robert Delehant, 59, was arrested and charged with felony harassment, driving under the influence and assault, according to police. Fortunately,

nobody was injured in the bizarre confrontation. “I could have been shot, my kids could have been shot. If he would have got his hands on that gun, somebody could have gotten hurt. I still

can’t believe it happened,” Volino told KPTV. Volino’s daughter had told them that she had already tipped him on the DoorDash app, but he was insistent on being paid cash. “He can’t make

that decision that I am going somebody’s house to get a cash tip,” he said. DoorDash confirmed Delehant was one of its drivers, while stressing it has a zero tolerance policy for harassment.

“What happened was unacceptable and the dash involved was immediately deactivated,” the company said in a statement.
