MMAMichel Pereira’s wife thrown into middle of UFC feud with Jorge MasvidalBy Jaclyn HendricksPublishedMay 23, 2022, 3:56 p.m. ET
Jorge Masvidal is firing back at Michel Pereira over claims that he slid into the DMs of Pereira’s wife, Gina Amir.
The drama began after Pereira’s win over Santiago Ponzinibbio this weekend, with the 28-year-old fighter stating in a post-fight press conference that he’d be up for a showdown with
Masvidal. Pereira alleged the 37-year-old Masvidal contacted his wife on social media, adding another layer of drama to a potential fight.
“So he sent an emoji to my wife – the emoji with the two hands together like (praying),” Pereira said, according to MMA Junkie. “He sent it to my wife and didn’t send it to me. And you know,
I never actually crossed paths with him, never had the chance to ask him. So I figured, you know, I really want to understand, but might as well understand inside the octagon. So we’ll just
settle it over there.”

It didn’t take long until Masvidal verbally hit back at Pereira, sharing a screenshot of the apparent exchange with Amir.
“How crazy a world and how far has society fallen that this idiot @UfcPereira would use his wife to hopefully 1 day get a paycheck and create a fake narrative to try and get a fight with me
when clearly he sees she slid in my dm? Wishing you guys the best,” Masvidal tweeted Sunday, adding the hashtag “marriage counselor.”
Amir, meanwhile, appeared to elaborate on the situation in a recent Instagram Story, per MMA Fighting.

“Society is always looking for excitement and unfortunately drama sells — twisting the narrative to create a story that is false. I have never, and would never do anything to disrespect my
marriage or my husband. This account as you can see, is a business account and way more than 1 person has access to it,” the message read. “This is not even the way I would speak. Not to
mention it is from years ago and before I even knew Michel.”
Though it remains to be seen if Pereira and Masvidal will duke it out online or in the octagon, it seems the former also has his eyes on a rumble with Nate Diaz.
“I really want to fight Nate Diaz because I think it’d be really fun to slap each other around,” Pereira said. “I think it’d be a really fun fight. I think we’d put on a show for all the
fans.”
