Ramkumar, the accused in the Swathi murder case has allegedly killed himself in prison by biting a live electrical wire. According to reports, the incident took place on Sunday at about

4p.m. at the Puzhal prison in Chennai. He was rushed to the Royapettah hospital where he was declared brought dead at 5:45p.m.   While the police say that his death was due to suicide,

Ramkumar’s family members are claiming that the police murdered the accused in the prison. According to a report, the deceased’s father Paramasivam said, “I was called and informed that he

was not well and being taken to hospital. They did not tell me anything about suicide. They have killed him and only called me. This is murder. He is inside jail, how do you think he was

killed? He was killed by the police and others.” On Sunday, Ramkumar’s lawyer released an audio recording of a telephonic conversation between himself and an official at the prison, which

further muddles the facts surrounding the death. According to a report, in the recording, the lawyer asked the official if the news about Ramkumar’s suicide was true. At this, the person at

the other end said that it is not. He added that he was unwell, and has been taken to a hospital. According to the accident register at the hospital, the deceased had injuries in his neck

and chest. However, there are questions being raised by the family of the accused if the nature of injuries is consistent with those sustained when someone dies from electrocution. With the

death of the prime accused, the investigation into the brutal murder of Swathi, a Chennai-based techie has hit a roadblock. While the police claim that they had enough evidence to nail him

in court, the case is now against them for alleged murder of the accused.
